Educational Accreditation
University Charter School (UCS) is a chartered public school accredited by the Texas Education Agency. UCS is a part of Continuing & Extended Education (C&EE) at The University of Texas at Austin. The University of Texas at Austin is accredited through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Independent and Distance Learning courses are Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) compliant.
Educational Certifications
UCS administrators, teachers, Educational Diagnosticians, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, and speech pathologist are degreed and certified for the positions to which they are assigned. Most teachers also hold Special Education certification.
Background
University Charter School began in the fall of 1998 with one facility and 50 students. UCS now serves 16 facilities with a combined enrollment of approximately 600 students.
N.E.G. University Charter School provides instruction to students in grades 2nd-12. The flexibility of the curriculum allows students to enter at their level and continue at their own pace.
UCS provides specialized attention given to each facility. Each campus operates as a unique instructional model responsive to the instructional needs of that student body. The service and assistance each student receives is individualized. UCS administrative and support staff work closely with each campus to facilitate instruction, counseling, attendance, and to support and meet all state and federal documentation and requirements.
